This kitchen was transformed from “builder grade” to custom showpiece, while at the same time creating plenty of room to prepare meals. Having worked in the restaurant industry, the homeowner had specific requests: two large, functional, separate sinks; professional appliances; and enough prep space for both him and his wife to work comfortably together in the kitchen. By eliminating a window and small breakfast area, as well as shrinking a sliding door, we were able to fulfill their wishes. The homeowner now has triple the pantry space, double the counter space and enough cabinet storage that they still have some empty shelves. However, the best feature is that they now have room to work comfortably side-by-side preparing meals together in a space they love.
From our happy client:
“We just love our new kitchen! Prior to remodeling, our kitchen did not have enough counter space for us to comfortably prepare and cook. There was also not enough cabinet space for us to store all of our dishes, glasses, cups, utensils, etc. Any large items were very hard to store in our single pantry cabinet due to space constraints.
Additionally, our appliances and sink were dated and did not provide optimal functionality for us. For example, our old sink was shallow and not large enough to wash large pans and pots comfortably. Even though the cook top was a natural gas unit, it did not provide enough BTU to cook at high enough heat, especially for stir-fry cooking.
Now our kitchen has lots of counter space for food prep. We have two sinks that allow both of us to work simultaneously without “fighting” for space. The increased cabinet space has allowed us to store more in the kitchen and less in the garage. The floating shelves give the kitchen a very distinctive look, as well as providing a beautiful place to showcase decorative dishes, glasses, etc. Now we have a range with a wok burner that provides us with more than enough BTU’s for cooking just about anything.
It was a joy working with Westside Remodeling again. Joe Madden handled our kitchen remodel with the utmost care and attention to detail. The cabinets, the tile, and the Silestone countertops work together beautifully. The sink, faucet, disposal, dishwasher and pot filler installations came out perfectly. Everything works just as it should.
However, we could not have had our vision come true without Liz Tiffin’s design efforts. It was through her layout options that we honed in on the best one for our kitchen — one that maximized space through a simpler yet elegant design.”
