2013 Bath Trends

Westside Remodeling

Trying to think of ways to change or upgrade your bathroom? It is possible to have a new looking bathroom without remodeling the entire room. Earlier this month we posted a blog about the top trends for kitchens in 2013 from the National Kitchen and Bath Association. Now we are going to share the top trends for bathrooms from the NKBA survey!

Many bathroom trends are similar to the kitchen trends, but there are some differences. Again, if you would like to discuss more ideas and see portfolios, come by and visit us at Westside Remodeling!

Ceramic/Porcelain Tile

Although these materials are slowly decreasing in popularity, they are still at the top of the list for flooring options. Natural stone tile has also declined within the past year, but is still second on the list.

Undermount Sinks

These have also slightly declined the past year, but they are still the most requested lavoratory sink. Integrated sink/tops have grown in popularity within the past year.

Some other trends we previously touched base on with our 2013 Kitchen Trends blog post are also taking affect in bathrooms:

  • Gray color schemes are popular
  • Transitional style is surpassing traditional style
  • Granite and quartz countertops are the leading materials
  • LED lighting is significantly increasing
  • Satin nickel and bronze faucet finishes are growing in popularity
  • White, off white, beige and bone color cabinets are on top

Another trend we have seen that was not on the NKBA list is Stand Alone Tubs. Tubs are more often seen in the guest baths than in today’s master bathrooms. Stand alone tubs in the master bath is becoming more popular to help fit with the current styles. They also help give the bathroom a ‘spa like’ ambiance.
